¶ What is InstaLOD Grid?
InstaLOD Grid is an on-premise compute cluster for organizations that can easily be established to solve several pain points of preparing and processing 3D data. Customers that leverage InstaLOD Grid are able to expose every employee to the InstaLOD web application to process data with no additional cost and no application-specific training.
¶ Prerequisites
To set up an InstaLOD Grid server or processing worker, InstaLOD Pipeline must be installed on the target machine. InstaLOD Grid should not be installed as a privileged user as it does not require elevated access rights to run. Make sure to install InstaLOD Grid for a user with non-administrative permissions.
No additional software is required to set up an InstaLOD Grid server or worker via InstaLOD Pipeline.
InstaLOD Pipeline can be executed from the command line with various program arguments that determine whether it runs as a server or worker. For information on how to install InstaLOD Pipeline, please consult the InstaLOD Pipeline user-manual.
The target machine will require an active internet connection that can communicate with the InstaLOD licensing servers.

¶ Getting Started with InstaLOD Grid
The following section outlines the process of getting started using InstaLOD Grid.
¶ 1. Setting Up an InstaLOD Grid Server
To start using InstaLOD Grid, you will need to set up an InstaLOD Grid server. This server is the core of the InstaLOD Grid network and will receive tasks from client nodes to distribute across available workers. Users can then be added to provide them with access.
InstaLOD Grid Servers can be set up through the command line with InstaLOD Pipeline, or with a graphical user interface in InstaLOD Studio.
Servers can be configured with a server configuration JSON file. A breakdown of this file can be found here.
¶ 2. Setting Up Workers
InstaLOD Grid Processing workers can be registered with an available InstaLOD Grid server to accept and process incoming tasks. Each worker node can accept and process one task at a time.
¶ 3. Creating and Processing Tasks
Users can upload tasks to InstaLOD Grid in a few ways. InstaLOD Grid is accessible through an intuitive web interface that allows users to securely process tasks through their browser of choice.
In addition to the browser interface, InstaLOD Grid can be accessed from multiple InstaLOD products such as InstaLOD Studio, InstaLOD Pipeline, and some InstaLOD integrations. InstaLOD Grid is also accessible through web requests.
Once a file has been processed, the result can be downloaded or imported straight into InstaLOD Studio.
