¶ Who is eligible for the free InstaLOD Pioneer license?
The InstaLOD Pioneer license is only available for either individuals or businesses with annual revenue or total funding of less than $100,000.

¶ Is it really free? Can I use it commercially for my game or artwork?
Yes, the InstaLOD Pioneer license is really free! There are no plans to change or remove the Pioneer license in the foreseeable future.
Yes, you can use the InstaLOD Pioneer license commercially, however, when you release content - either a game, or artwork, you need to make sure to pay credit to InstaLOD. We call this the Pioneer Attribution.

¶ Can I use it commercially for my freelance work?
Yes, the InstaLOD Pioneer license can be used for freelance work, as long as your customer would be able to acquire a Pioneer license under his name. In other words, if your customer or final recipient of your work exceeds the USD $100,000 in annual revenue or total funding, you cannot use the Pioneer license.
In this case, the InstaLOD Studio License or a InstaLOD Node-Locked License must be acquired. The InstaLOD Studio License has a revenue/funding cap of USD $250,000 but you can use it for any kind of freelance work. The InstaLOD Node-Locked or Semi-Floating License has no revenue/funding cap at all.
TLDR: Only use the InstaLOD Pioneer license, if your customer could use it as well. Otherwise, you need to get a InstaLOD Studio License or InstaLOD Node-Locked/Semi-Floating license.
¶ Pioneer Attribution
We're providing a fully subsidized license to individuals, small-businesses and startups.
In return, any project that uses data created with a Pioneer License must display proper attribution which can be fulfilled as follows:
- If you create a game, application or video
- The game, app or video has a title or splash screen?
- Then include the InstaLOD logo in your production's splash screen, not smaller than other vendors
- There is no title or splash screen?
- Then include the InstaLOD logo in the first seconds of your content
- The game, app or video has a title or splash screen?
- If you're creating a mod for a game such as levels, props, and characters,
- Then apply the watermark where it is resonable to do so such as an Artstation thumbnail
- And provide a link back to the InstaLOD website in the readme.

This really is all there is to it! The exact details can be reviewed in the licensing agreement that needs to be accepted before acquiring the license.
Obviously, you're more than invited to do more to promote InstaLOD and we're happy if you do so!
Whenever you share, publish, or distribute content created with the Pioneer License, attribution must be included. If you deliver content to a client, they are also responsible for keeping that attribution in place when they publish or use the content.
