InstaLOD's sophisticated baker allows for advanced workflows beyond the typical high-to low-poly bake. Extending beyond features like its large texture stack and up to 32k bakes, InstaLOD's baker also enables completely new workflows in texturing to the point where it can be utilized as a texturing tool.
InstaLOD's baker allows for sophisticated alpha value blending between textures. This enables texture layering of grunge, dirt, decals, etc. with a non-destructive workflow for quick and easy iterations.
To utilize this workflow, simply create a plane with the textures, including an alpha channel, applied. Place the plane in 3D space onto the model and bake. Layering multiple planes with different alpha values is supported and allows for advanced texture layering techniques.
When using the InstaLOD SDK, an alpha mask needs to be additionally specified. Its alpha value constrains how the material is blended.
Keep the Baking-Ray Length in mind to accommodate the distance of the texture planes for correct baking behavior.
